This dash cam clip sent to us of a head on collision shows just how quickly these things can happen, we will let Owen explain in his own words;
On the right hand side, you can just make out a downed power line (visible at 0:03), traffic was slowing down to stare at it. The red Vauxhall Astra slows down carefully, the red BMW 3 series brakes hard, the silver Vauxhall Combi Van and the greyish-brown Ford Focus all brake quite harshly as a result.
The white Mitsubishi Fuso was following the Ford Focus too closely and could not stop in time, resulting in him hitting the Ford Focus into the Vauxhall Combi (which knocked the Combi into me) and the Fuso (trying to minimise the accident) steered into my lane as he could not see me (I assume the lorry in front of me blocked his view until it was too late) and ended up hitting me head on.
Worst injury was a broken leg sustained by the driver of the Ford Focus, I believe the driver of the Fuso has been charged with careless driving.
Co-ordinates are on the video, but it was the A47 between Guyhirn and Thorney Toll.
All vehicles except the Mitsubishi Fuso have been written off, and the road was closed for a few hours while the vehicles were recovered and the road was cleared.
