There’s a reason why driving while using a mobile phone is illegal – it’s bloody dangerous.
Therefore, it’s pretty hard to understand why you would be so angry if you were caught using one by a police officer.
Perhaps the only explanation for this incident was that the suspect was a complete idiot.

Every case of a police officer pulling someone over for this offence is potentially one fatality prevented, because there have been countless incidents in the past where someone has been killed due to a driver being distracted by their mobile.
Add in the fact that he wanted to attack a copper, and you really have to be a Grade A doughnut to pull this stunt.
Just to look at it from the other perspective, surely if you have other stuff you want to hide from the Old Bill, the last thing that you would want to do is give them an excuse to pull you over.
Driving under the speed limit without using a mobile phone would probably be Lesson One in ‘How Not To Get Arrested 101.’
